Riyadh, July 01, 2020, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues, at local, regional, and international arenas. Al-Bilad and Al-Riyadh newspapers said in their editorials that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its clear position that the political solution is the only way to find a way out of Syrian crisis, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254 (Geneva 1), while Iran remains a major threat to the future of Syria and its identity. The newspapers added that Saudi Arabia hosted the two conferences (Riyadh 1 and 2) that led to establish the Syrian Negotiation Authority and unify the Syrian opposition, and hosted hundreds of thousands of Syrian brothers on its lands, who was treated like citizens. The papers pointed out that the Saudi stance in support of the political solution in Yemen requires a more active role from the international community to put an end to blatant Iranian interference and to force the Houthi coup militia to respond to international political efforts to put an end to the crisis. In this regard, Saudi Arabia continues its efforts with the United Nations and its political and human rights organizations to address these issues and emphasize the need to respect international laws and norms to promote peace and security in the region and the world, the papers concluded. Al Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the behavior of the Iranian regime in the region aims to destabilize security and stability in order to implement its malicious agenda through its terrorist proxies in Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria. The paper added that the Iranian regime insists on providing its proxies with support and weapons to continue committing more crimes against humanity and to violate all international norms. The paper concluded that the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cabinet Member Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir affirmed, during a joint press conference held with US Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, that Saudi Arabia is working with the United States to prevent Iran from exporting weapons, urging the international community to extend the arms embargo on Iran. -- SPA 09:26 LOCAL TIME 06:26 GMT 0003 www.spa.gov.sa/w1362227
