Cairo, June 15, 2020, SPA -- Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned today the military operation launched by Turkey in the regions of Northern Iraq for allegedly chasing elements of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, stressing that the Turkish military interference represents an attack on the Iraqi sovereignty, and without coordination with the government in Baghdad. The Arab League affirmed that Ankara underestimates the international law and its relations with its Arab neighbors. A statement issued by the Arab League General Secretariat today said that the Arab League’s council had adopted a resolution last March condemning the ongoing Turkish interferences in the Northern Iraq under the title “Taking a unified Arab Stance towards the Turkish forces’ violation of Iraqi sovereignty” and the Arab countries unanimously approved this decision except one country had reservations about it. --SPA 18:30 LOCAL TIME 15:30 GMT 0013 www.spa.gov.sa/w1350621
