Riyadh, Nov. 15, 2019, SPA -- The Human Rights Commission participated in the International Conference on (Protecting the Rights of Migrant Workers) which was held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 12 to 14 November 2019 and organized by the National Committee for Human Rights of Nepal. Member of the Human Rights Commission Dr. Zaid bin Ali Al-Dukkan delivered a speech in which he affirmed that Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, is witnessing a renaissance and a comprehensive and continuous development based on man who is one of the main pillars of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. He explained that the Commission is an independent body concerned with expressing opinions and advice on human rights issues and that its role is to protect and promote human rights in accordance with international human rights standards and to spread awareness of them, and to contribute to ensure that this is implemented in the light of the provisions of Islamic law. Dr. Al-Dukkan pointed out that the number of expatriate workers and their families in the Kingdom amounted to 12.5 million people, representing about one third of the population, and contribute to the development effectively, and that the directives issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques indicate that employees in Saudi Arabia shall enjoy all their rights, and the Kingdom shall hold accountable all those who fail to do so through procedures and mechanisms that guarantee the right of both the labors and the employer.
