Jakarta, Shawwal 12, 1438, Jul 6, 2017, SPA -- Five people have died, including a Dutch pilot, after a small plane crashed in a mountainous area of Indonesia's Papua province, an official said on Thursday. "All five bodies have been evacuated to Wamena," Yadianto, a spokesman for the search and rescue agency in Jayapura, told dpa. The Pilatus PC-6 Porter plane owned by PT Associated Mission Aviation lost contact with air-traffic control eight minutes after it took off at 11 am (0200 GMT) from Wamena in Jayawijaya district on Wednesday. It was supposed to land in Darakma in Nduga district at 11:25 am. The plane was carrying five people on board: three passengers, a co-pilot and a pilot. A spokesman for the national search and rescue agency, Yusuf Latif, said the location where the plane is believed to have crashed was spotted yesterday when a passing plane saw smoke billowing into the sky, but efforts to send a rescue team were immediately hampered by bad weather. --SPA 11:14 LOCAL TIME 08:14 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w440847
