Saudi Embassy in Sudan celebrates UN Arabic Language Day

Khartoum, Rabi'II 01, 1439,December 19, 2017,SPA --In presence of Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Ali bin Hassan Jaafar and Sudanese Assistant President Major General Abdulrahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, the Saudi embassy in Sudan celebrated the United Nations Arabic Language Day which falls on December 18 annually in holding a meeting entitled "Arabic language and new technologies ". Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi Ambassador stressed that the Arabic language deserves much more attention and care as it is the language of the Holy Quran, the source of the Islamic message, and the language spoken by more than 422 million people around the world. He added that "The Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud attaches great importance to the Arabic language through the establishment of universities that teach Arabic and centers and institutes for the dissemination of the Arabic language, pointing to King Abdullah Center for Arabic Language established in 1429 H which has been a scientific lighthouse benefiting millions of peoples. For his part, the Sudanese assistant president commended great and sincere efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in disseminating the Arabic language, increasing Arabic contents on the Internet, and establishing the Arabic blog and the interactive computer dictionary. For his part, President of the Arabic Language Academy Professor Bakri Mohammed Al-Haj reviewed the Kingdom's efforts in spreading the Arabic language through the establishment of a number of prestigious centers for the dissemination of Arabic language, research chairs and the allocation of scholarships at all levels to students all over the world. --SPA 13:35 LOCAL TIME 10:35 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w567837
