Amman, Rajab 14, 1439, Mar 31, 2018, SPA -- Jordan has condemned the Israeli occupation escalation against the Gaza strip that left at least 15 Palestinians killed and hundreds injured. State Minister for Media Affairs, Mohammad Momani, held Israel accountable as the occupation power behind today's violations and for using "excessive force" against peaceful protesters who were marching to commemorate the Land Day and affirm their legitimate rights in accordance with international law and norms. Momani, who is the government spokesperson, urged the international community to pressure Israel to abide by its obligations as the occupying power and address the humanitarian crisis the coastal territory has been experiencing for years now. The minister warned that the failure to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinians issue will further exacerbate despair and fuel extremism and violence and ultimately serve terrorist agenda. He also called for concerted efforts to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. --SPA 14:20 LOCAL TIME 11:20 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w655373
