Red Wave 2 Joint Maritime Drill Starts in Jeddah

Jeddah, September 22, 2019, SPA -- The Red Wave 2 joint drill started in Jeddah today by the Western Fleet with the participation of the Red Sea riparian countries of Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen and Somalia, in addition to the Saudi Royal Air Force and the border guards. The commander of the Western Fleet, commander of the drill "Red Wave 2" Vice Admiral Saqr bin Mohammed Al-Harbi explained that the exercise aims to unify and enhance the maritime security of the countries bordering the Red Sea, protect territorial waters, strengthen military cooperation, and exchange combat experiences between countries because of the importance of the Red Sea to the countries of the world as an important economic corridor, in addition the exercise contributes to cooperation and standardization of military concepts, raises combat readiness, and exchanges experiences between the participating countries. -- SPA 15:09 LOCAL TIME 12:09 GMT 0024 www.spa.gov.sa/w1176817
