Ministry of Commerce Issues Guiding Charter for Saudi Family-run Businesses

Riyadh, Sha'ban 26, 1439, May 12, 2018, SPA -- The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has issued a guiding charter (or a directory) for Saudi family-run businesses, aimed at enhancing the family-run business values, achieving the targets of the companies and developing their businesses, in line with an institutional framework that supports the possibility of their expanding and increasing their success. The Guiding Charter is seen as a family-run reference document for business to regulate family-run properties, in the company and to represent a company record that shows what the company represents to the family. The Charter, also, regulates relations between family members, including the commandments and wishes of the founders, transferring of ownership among family members, in family businesses and the criteria for the employment of family members in the company, setting out the rules for resolving disputes that may be encountered. It aims at maximizing the value of a company and developing its business, too, educating the family members about their rights and obligations, balancing the interests of the family members and the company's interests, and strengthening the family members' ties to achieve success and bolster their contribution of serving the national economy. --SPA 21:56 LOCAL TIME 18:56 GMT 0012 www.spa.gov.sa/w687190
