For his part, Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Zamel, Chairman of the Saudi-Russian Business Council, stressed the importance of a meeting between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Russian President Vladimir Putin in enhancing levels of economic partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Russia. He pointed out that small and medium enterprises represented %95 of the Kingdom and Russia's economy. He added that this event aims to raise the level of economic cooperation between the Kingdom and Russia to wider fields, citing the fact that the Kingdom exported more than $40 billion worth of diversified goods to Russia in 2015 while the Russian exports to the Kingdom amounted to $2 billion. Al-Zamel stressed that the Russian investments in the Kingdom and joint ventures between the two countries will offer the Russian companies great opportunities to enter the Arab markets, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, Iraq and Africa. He disclosed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a platform for production of Russian technologies through intensifying partnership with the Kingdom and benefiting from Saudi products of raw materials, including iron, copper, grain or food products.
