Spanish Monarch Expresses Keenness on Bolstering Historical, Economic Ties with Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Rabi'II 18, 1438, Jan 16, 2017, SPA -- King Felipe VI of the Kingdom of Spain reiterated his country's keenness on developing trade, investment and economic relations with the Kingdom, proceeding from what it entertains of long historical and cultural balance, as well as outstanding prestige, in the trade and investment and economic partnership between the two countries, as one of the largest trading partners, noting that Spain ranks third among importers from the Kingdom, in the European countries. These comments were unfolded, in the context of a royal speech, during a visit to Riyadh Commerce and Industry Chambers today, where he was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber Ahmed bin Suleiman Al Rajhi, board members, a group of businessmen and Saudi as well as Spanish investors, in the presence of members of the delegation accompanying King, who was currently on a visit to the Kingdom, before leaving it, later on, tonight. The Spanish monarch added that: "Spain is looking forward to closer relations and historical ties with the Kingdom, at all political, trade and investment levels, in order to enhance friendship between the Spanish and the Saudi people and the development of trade and investment partnership, pointing to many Spanish companies presence and participation in implementation of several development projects, in the Kingdom, as an evidence of the great confidence in the Spanish expertise and technical," stressing that Spanish companies are betting on the future, in the Kingdom and therefore are seeking to invest and enter into partnerships with the Saudi business sector, to implement projects in the fields of engineering and renewable energy to contribute to the economic development of the Kingdom, in addition to desalination sector.
