Libreville, Rabi'II 17, 1438, Jan 15, 2017, SPA -- Hosts Gabon were held to a draw by minnows Guinea-Bissau on the opening day of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament Saturday, while Cameroon versus Burkina Faso also ended in a 1-1 deadlock in Gabon's capital, dpa reported. In the first game, a Juary Soares 90th minute header for Guinea-Bissau spoiled Gabon's party and earned his team a 1-1 draw. It opened up what had been a tight match and at the other end the lively Toni Silva did his best to put Guinea-Bissau level, firing one opportunity straight at Didier Ovono. Aubameyang had another good chance to score for Gabon after Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina cut the ball back to him in the area but he fired over the bar. Although favourites to win the game, Gabon were far from convincing and when Zezinho lifted a free kick in for Soares to score a fine header and silence the home fans, it was fully merited. Burkina Faso star Issoufou Dayo's 75th minute goal punished Cameroon for wastefulness in front of goal. Defender Dayo was on hand to head home after Fabrice Ondoa spilled Banou Diawara's free kick in the 75th minute. --SPA 04:09 LOCAL TIME 01:09 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w312503
