Riyadh, Ramadan 6, 1438, June 1, 2017, SPA -- An official source at the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen has welcomed statements of UN Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad at the Security Council where he called upon Houthi militias and ousted Saleh forces to hand over Hodeidah port to a neutral side. In a statement, the source added that the UN envoy's statements asserted previous demands of the coalition regarding the UN supervision on the port for protecting the Yemeni people against arms smuggling operations carried out by the militias and confiscation of humanitarian and medical aid arriving in the port. The source said that the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh, in his briefing before the Security Council, stressed the importance of using customs and tax revenues from the port of Hodeidah to finance salaries and basic services instead of exploiting them for war or personal benefits. The source reiterated the coalition's demands to the international community to make pressure on the coup side to implement all relevant international resolutions, particularly resolution no. 2216. The source confirmed readiness of the coalition to support the relief efforts ensuring the flow of medical and food aid to the port of Hodeidah easily to the Yemeni people and humanitarian and relief organizations in Yemen. --SPA 19:43 LOCAL TIME 16:43 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w419351
