Security Council Extends Mandate of UN Mission in Libya for more one year

United Nations, Dhul-Hijjah 23, 1438 H., September 14, 2017, SPA -- The United Nations Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution on the extension of the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNMIS) until 15 September 2018. The adopted Resolution No. 2376 calls for using mediation and good offices to provide support for a comprehensive political process for all within the framework of the Libyan political agreement and the further implementation of the agreement. For his part, the Acting Permanent Representative of Libya to the United Nations welcomed the adoption of the resolution and the extension of the mandate of the mission, stressing that the work of the political mission is basically to facilitate the political process and bring the views of the Libyan parties closer. -- SPA 00:11 LOCAL TIME 21:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w487862
