Saudi Ambassador in Geneva : Kingdom pays utmost attention to persons with disabilities

Geneva, 08 Jumada II,1438 AH, 07 March,2017 , SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has confirmed that it pays utmost attention and care for persons with disabilities emanating from the principles and provisions of the Islamic Sharia necessitating the protection of their rights and banning their violation, noting that this care has been demonstrated in taking many legislative and non-legislative measures to promote and protect their rights. This came in the Kingdom's speech during the annual session of Human Rights Council, about people with disabilities last Friday delivered by Saudi Ambassador to European Headquarters and Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations and other international organizations, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasil. Dr. Al-Wasil pointed out that the laws of the Kingdom ban any unjust discrimination being practiced against persons with disabilities, and that the regulation on care for persons with disabilities in the Kingdom ensures the state's guaranteeing of their rights in services of care and rehabilitation and encouraging institutions and individuals to contribute to charitable works in the field of disability in consistent with relevant international standards. -- SPA 15:02 LOCAL TIME 12:02 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w347752
