Jeddah, Ramadan 18, 1438, June 13, 2017, SPA -- The General Authority of Civil Aviation said in a statement yesterday that it is committed to its decision issued on 10/9/1438 H, corresponding to 5/6/2017, on banning all Qatari aviation companies and aircraft registered in the State of Qatar from landing at the Kingdom's airports or transiting its sovereign airspace. The statement added that the decision does not include the aviation companies and aircraft not registered in the Kingdom or Qatar, and wishing to cross the Kingdom's airspace to and from Qatar. It noted that with regard to the passage of private and aircraft crossing the Kingdom's airspace from and to Qatar, non-Qatari private and crossing aircraft must submit a prior request to the concerned authority at the General Authority of Civil Aviation at least 24 hours, including a list of names and nationalities of crews and passengers, and the cargo being carried by the aircraft. The Authority also reiterated its full commitment to the provisions of the Convention on International Civil Aviation "Chicago Convention 1944" and other relevant conventions to ensure the safety of international civil aviation, and the flow of international air traffic over the skies of the Kingdom. At the same time, the Kingdom reserves its sovereign right under international law to take any precautionary measures to protect its national security if necessary. --More 12:45 LOCAL TIME 09:45 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w426843
