Riyadh, Safar 3, 1439, October 23, 2017, SPA -- King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Foundation launched an initiative to support the education of over than 76,000 Rohingya refugees' children, in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group. The initiative is concerned with education of refugees fleeing their country of Myanmar as a result of the violence, and currently in the numbers of more than 500,000 refugees in the city of Cox-Bazar, in Bangladesh, on the border with Myanmar. This major program aims to ensure education in refugees' camps through support for early education, basic education and to contribute to improve levels of child support among the refugees. The program's budget is estimated at $ 11.5 million, of which $ 7.2 million has been provided by King Abdullah Humanitarian Foundation (SR27 million), for the program that has been, in operation, for the previous five years, at least, and it will support up to 560 teachers who will teach 76,787 refugees' children, as well as contribution to providing nearly 2,000 young people with practical skills required, through vocational and technical training programs to improve living and earning opportunities, in host communities and to improve practical capabilities for them. -- SPA 19:59 LOCAL TIME 16:59 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w519079
