Berlin, Dhu-AlHijjah 03, 1436, September 17, 2015, SPA -- The German army is to set up a command centre to coordinate the 15,000 military and civilian personnel currently employed by the military in an IT capacity, Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen announced Thursday, dpa reported. "The foundations for increased professionalization of the armed forces in the cyber and information area must be laid and the digitalization of the German military pushed forward," Von der Leyen said in a standing order. To date the Interior Ministry has been primarily responsible for countering attacks by hackers, who mount between 2,500 and 6,500 attacks a day on government computers.
