Amman, Ramadan 8, 1436, Jun 25, 2015, SPA -- A citizen of Jordan's northern city of Ramtha died and four others were injured on Thursday afternoon when several mortar shells from Syria fell on a street in the city center, an official source announced. The source said shells hit Ramtha as a result of clashes inside Syria, very close to the Jordanian-Syrian border. Public security and civil defense personnel rushed to the site to evacuate citizens, rescue the injured and check out the damage caused by this heinous act. The five injured were taken by ambulance, but one of them passed away shortly thereafter, the source noted. He added that the Jordan Armed Forces is doing its utmost to secure the borders and ward off dangers, stressing that Jordan will address any risk emerging due to the deteriorating security situation in Syria. "Our forces are ready to deal with any situation and danger that could compromise our security, whatever the source (of such a threat) might be," the source emphasized. --SPA 19:56 LOCAL TIME 16:56 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
