High sodium cyanide levels detected at China blast site; toll at 114

Beijing, Dhu-AlQa'dah 02, 1436, August 17, 2015, SPA -- Sodium cyanide 27.4 times higher than safety standards has been detected in surface wastewater at a northern China blast site as firefighters raced to clear the deadly chemical ahead of forecast rain, state media reported Monday, according to dpa. The toll from Wednesday's explosions at a chemical warehouse in Tianjin climbed to 114 as rescuers found two more bodies in the debris, said Gong Jiansheng, deputy chief of Tianjin city publicity department.
