Minister of Health meets Director General of World Health Organization

Geneva, Sha'ban 01 , 1436, May 19 , 2015, SPA -- Minister of Health Engineer Khalid al-Falih met in Geneva on Tuesday with Dr. Margaret Chan, the Director General of the World Health Organization. During the meeting, they discussed the Kingdom's success in fighting the Corona virus and the systems that have been introduced in the Kingdom to deal with epidemics that could spread in any country of the world. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, Minister of health said that they discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between the kingdom and the World Health Organization and the possibility of making the kingdom an international center for learning medicine. He pointed to the aspiration of making the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a regional center for services of the World Health Organization to take advantage of the capabilities of the Kingdom in the health sector and other government sectors. He said that he submitted a proposal to the Director General of the World Health Organization to benefit from the Kingdom's experience within an international program to combat diseases, where the kingdom has a distinguished center for the control of epidemics and infectious and non-infectious diseases. Engineer Khalid al-Falih stressed that the kingdom is one of the successful countries in the world in terms of capacity and sustainable systems to contain the diseases and epidemics , as a result of its great experience in receiving millions of pilgrims and visitors every year.
