Kabul, Shawwal 10, 1436, July 26, 2015, SPA -- Taliban rebels seized a police base in north-eastern Afghanistan after hours of fighting with security forces, the officials said Sunday, according to dpa. About 100 guerrillas attacked several security outposts in Wardoj district of the province of Badakhshan over three days, forcing troops to surrender, provincial governor Shah Wali Adeb said. He said about 125 members of the border police, national police and local police surrendered to the insurgents. "The motivation behind the surrender of the security forces in the base was that they did not get reinforcement from the government," the governor said. Wardoj has become one of the most dangerous districts in Badakshan. --SPA 10:17 LOCAL TIME 07:17 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
