Brussels, Ramadan 22, 1436, Jul 9, 2015, SPA -- EU spending should be capped at 142.1 billion euros (156.9 billion dollars) next year, the bloc's governments said Thursday, setting the stage for a new round of traditionally testy budget negotiations. According to dpa, EU members states have repeatedly sparred with the European Parliament over the bloc's budgets, with the governments typically seeking to limit expenditures while the legislature often advocates more spending. Most of the EU money flows back into the bloc's 28 countries, for everything from agricultural subsidies and support for poorer regions to research and education programmes. The European Commission, the EU's executive, had proposed that the bloc spend 143.5 billion euros in 2016 - an increase of 1.6 per cent from the budget approved for this year. --SPA 21:17 LOCAL TIME 18:17 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
