Rome, Ramadan 28, 1436, Jul 15, 2015, SPA -- Italy's poverty indicators stopped worsening in 2014, halting a two-year slide, official data showed Wednesday, in another indication that the eurozone's third-largest economy was recovering from a crippling recession. Some 4.1 million people, equal to 6.8 percent of the total, lived in absolute poverty last year, compared to 7.3 percent in 2013, and 5.9 percent in 2012, national statistics institute Istat said. In 2007, before the global economic downturn, the percentage was 3.1 percent. Istat Chairman Giorgio Alleva called the latest figures "non negative." "Italy has objectively turned around a corner, but there is still a lot to do," dpa quoted Prime Minister Matteo Renzi as saying during an official visit to Kenya. "It's good news but I'll be happy when I see [greater economic] growth." --SPA 01:08 LOCAL TIME 22:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
