SPRINGFIELD, Oregon, Ramadan 17, 1436, Jul 4, 2015, SPA -- Some Oregonians woke on the Fourth of July to a significant jolt when a magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck near Springfield and Eugene. According to AP, hundreds of people reported to the U.S. Geological Survey that they felt the quake, which struck at 8:42 a.m. Saturday. USGS Geophysicist Paul Caruso says there usually isn't any damage from quakes lower than magnitude 5.5 The quake was centered about 9 miles (14.5 kilometers) east/northeast of Springfield and 12 miles (19 kilometers) east of Eugene.
