Sydney, Rajab 2, 1436, Apr 21, 2015, SPA -- Three people are dead amid the worst storm to hit eastern Australia in years, dpa cited New South Wales (NSW) Premier Mike Baird as sayingTuesday. The three were elderly residents of Dungog, a town near the city of Newcastle in the state's central Hunter Region. Several houses in Dungog were reported washed away. Heavy rain and flash floods and "unprecedented" winds of up to 135 kilometres per hour blew over thousands of trees and powerlines and the roofs of dozens of homes, the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) said. At least 200,000 properties were without electricity, the worst power outage in the state since 2007, it reported. --SPA 12:00 LOCAL TIME 09:00 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
