Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia’s G20 Presidency Coincides with Extraordinary Year For All

Riyadh, April 25, 2020, SPA -- Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional, and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that since the announcement late last year that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the activities of G20, all preparations including a set of programs and plans are in full swing to host next summit. The paper added that Kingdom’s presidency of G20 coincides with an extraordinary year for all, including the Group‘s member states, which enhances the priority of the issue of economic and health solutions, seizing opportunities and making them available to all as well as dealing with the changes in first-hand. The paper concluded that in light of the global crisis of Coronavirus pandemic and its implications on various countries, a number of virtual meetings were held by the G20 ministers of agriculture, tourism, labor and health, reflecting the strong commitment by all countries even in such difficult circumstances in order to achieve the desired goals as a result of the G20 summit. In another context, Al-Bilad newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is still achieving further development and progress, despite the great challenges it faces due to regional plots aimed at destabilizing the region. The paper cited the developments of this critical stage related to unprecedented health and economic burdens of coronavirus pandemic and its implications on the global economy as a whole. It also added that that mineral wealth is seen as one of the key factors of the economic transformation and an important step of sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
