Ministry of Commerce Carries out Inspection Rounds on Shops, Points of Sale around Kingdom’s Regions

Riyadh, March 29, 2020, SPA -- The inspection teams of the Ministry of Commerce have carried out inspection rounds all over the Kingdom’s regions to verify the availability of products, food supplies and consumables. The ministry’s branch in Arar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, carried out inspection rounds on shops, institutions, and fodder markets to ensure the availability and abundance of goods. In AlBaha Region, the inspection teams have carried out 65 inspection tours on the markets and vegetable and fruit stores. In Najran Region, the efforts are also intensified and the teams carried out inspection rounds on points of sale, such as supermarkets, vegetable, poultry, and meat shops to ensure the application of health regulations and precautionary measures to confront Coronavirus. The inspection teams of the Ministry of Commerce in Hail Region, seized (1,168,000) masks, stored to be sold later. The quantities were confiscated, and then to be distributed in markets. In this regard, the Ministry of Commerce warns all violating importers, who are storing large quantities of monopolistic items to sell them later, against these illegal practices. The Ministry stated that importers must supply such quantities into the markets in coordination with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
