Lower Lake, Shawwal 18, 1436, Aug 3, 2015, SPA -- Firefighters Monday, aided by lower temperatures and higher humidity, made progress containing a wildfire threatening thousands of homes in Northern California. California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Captain Don Camp said that containment of the blaze in the Lower Lake area north of San Francisco was at 12 percent early Monday after being stuck at 5 percent for days. The fire, which is the largest in California, grew extensively over the weekend and measured 241 square kilometers by early Monday. Camp said that additional fire crews were going to be brought in to fight the blaze. Twelve thousand people have been forced to leave their homes or are being advised to do so. --SPA 21:02 LOCAL TIME 18:02 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
