BERLIN, 20 Ramadan,1438 AH, 15 June,2017 , SPA -- The Chargé d'Affaires of the Saudi Embassy in Republic of Germany Adnan Bustaji and Ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kingdom of Bahrain and Arab Republic of Egypt have met with Director of Middle East Department at German Foreign Ministry Philip Ackermann. During the meeting, the representatives of the four countries briefed the German official on the measures taken that led to severing of diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar, stressing that these measures and steps are not the result of the moment, but are dated back to several years and came after the continuation of the Qatar's actions and its insistence on interfering in the affairs of their countries and trying to destabilize them through its support for terrorist individuals and groups. They reiterated that their countries have repeatedly tried to dissuade Qatar from its actions leading to the split of Arab and Gulf ranks, however, these attempts have failed and after their patience has run out, these measures were taken in the hope that Qatar would honor its previous commitments. For his part, Mr. Philip Ackermann stressed his country's understanding of these measures, calling on all parties to resolve differences in dialogue and diplomatic ways, stressing at the same time that Germany supports the Kuwaiti mediation in this regard. "The Kingdom stands on a solid ground towards the reality of Qatar's practices and policies on interfering in the affairs of the Kingdom with the aim of breaking the national cohesion by supporting terrorist individuals and groups," the German official said. For his part, the Saudi Chargé d'Affaires stressed that the Kingdom has not imposed a blockade as Qatar claims, but they are merely measures taken against Qatar by not providing it with facilities across the Kingdom's borders, noting that the Kingdom exercises its sovereign right under the international law. -- SPA 15:23 LOCAL TIME 12:23 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w428615
