Maseru, Ramadan 8, 1438, Jun 3, 2017, SPA -- Voters in the small southern African nation of Lesotho lined up to elect a national assembly in the country's third election in only five years on Saturday, dpa reported. In a snap general election - more than three years earlier than scheduled - 1.25 million registered voters are due to elect 120 parliamentarians from 1,365 candidates belonging to 27 political parties. Early elections were called after a successful vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili in March, which led to the dissolution of parliament. Mosisili, who heads the Democratic Congress (DC) party, headed a seven-party coalition government which failed due to political infighting. The political party with the most seats will then form a government and nominate a prime minister. A political party needs at least 61 to rule the mountain kingdom by simple majority. --SPA 12:36 LOCAL TIME 09:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w420061
