Jakarta, Jumada II 02, 1438, March 01, 2017, SPA -- The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and President Joko Widodo of Republic of Indonesia held official talks at Astana Presidential Palace in Jakarta today. At the outset of the meeting, the Indonesian President reiterated welcome of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, describing the visit as historical. He highlighted the current deep-rooted bilateral relations between the two countries, the keenness of his country on enhancing and promoting them in all fields to the best interest of the two countries and peoples. He expressed readiness of his country to become a strategic partner of the Kingdom in achieving the Kingdom's vision 2030. In turn, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques delivered a speech in which he expressed happiness to visit his second country: the sisterly Republic of Indonesia, lauding the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation and expressing hope that the visit would contribute to developing this relation to higher horizons in what serves the interests of the two countries. He recalled with appreciation the visit of Indonesian President to the Kingdom in 2005 which opened new domains of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, followed by mutual visits of senior officials of the two countries. Emanating from our common factors, citing the membership to the Islamic Cooperation Organization, the United Nations, and the G20, there is need to consolidate the ties of cooperation between us in all fields, the monarch said. He added that challenges facing the world today, topped by the phenomenon of terrorism, necessitate that we deepen dialogue, and intensify efforts to confront those challenges, appreciating the position of Indonesia in supporting Islamic solidarity as well as the fair cause of Palestinian people, citing Indonesia's endeavor to narrow the gap among Islamic countries positions. Developing our relations on strong and firm bases, would positively contribute to tackling the regional and international crises, and enhance cooperation among Islamic countries based on good neighborhood, non-interference in the domestic affairs of other countries and solving of disputes through peaceful means according to the OIC charter, UN charter and principles of international law.
