Ramallah, Rabi'II 2, 1438, Dec 31, 2016, SPA -- President of the State of Palestine Mahmud Abbas here today that the settlements on the territories of the State of Palestine shall demise. In a televised speech broadcasted on the Palestine TV, on the occasion of the fifty-second anniversary of the start of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement "Fatah", Abbas said that the Security Council resolution no. 2334 has confirmed the hegemony of the international terms of reference, demanding that Israel has to halt all settlement activity and inadmissibility to make any changes, in the demographic composition, character and status of the land of the State of Palestine, occupied since 1967, including Eastern Jerusalem. He thanked the countries that adopted the draft resolution, all countries that voted for it, the American administration and all brothers and friends of Palestine, adding that such a resolution made it possible to call 2017, the Year of the international recognition of the state of Palestine, because more recognitions will enhance the chances of reaching the two-state solution formula. Hands of the Palestinians will remain outstretched to peace, he stressed, reiterating neither to accept interim solutions nor a state with provisional borders, let alone attempts by the Israeli government to reverse the facts and the practice of misleading the international community, at a time in which it keeps building colonies establishing the one-state reality and racial discrimination, through the continuation of settlement as well as occupation. "We look forward with hope for the International Conference to be held in Paris, in mid-January, stressing the importance of its outcomes, for the international follow-up mechanism and the timetable for implementing them, as we appreciated President Putin's initiative to hold a trilateral meeting, in Moscow, and expressing willingness to meet this call", the Palestinian president remarked. The Palestinian leadership is ready to work with the new US administration, led by President-elect Donald Trump, in order to achieve peace in the region, according to the two-state solution formula, the international terms of reference and resolutions and the Arab-sponsored proposed Peace Initiative. -- SPA 22:08 LOCAL TIME 19:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w302343
