Tokyo, Rabi'I 29, 1438, Dec 28, 2016, SPA -- Eastern Japan was rocked by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, according to seismologists. There was no risk of a tsunami in the wake of the tremor, and no reports of deaths or damage. The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers late on Wednesday, hit the same north-eastern province of Ibaraki where 18,500 were killed by a massive tsunami after a 9.0-magnitude earthquake nearly six years ago, dpa reported. Earthquake-prone Japan sits at the convergence of four tectonic plates. The country is also home to 110 active volcanoes. --SPA 18:34 LOCAL TIME 15:34 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w300319
