Berlin, Rabi'I 5, 1438, Dec 4, 2016, SPA -- Talks among 46 nations aimed at slashing tariffs on environmentally related goods and services ended in failure on Sunday, participants said, according to dpa. "The participants will now return to capitals to consider next steps," said US trade representative Michael Froman and EU Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom in a joint statement from the site of the weekend talks at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. The negotiations which began in July 2014 concerned so-called "green" exports, including those related to renewable energy, pollution reduction and managing hazardous waste. The participants to the negotiations account for the majority of global trade in environmental goods, according to the WTO. "I believe that the knowledge and understanding gained in these discussions will help us to move forward in the near future. I urge participants to show whatever flexibility they can to help conclude the deal," WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo said in a statement. -- SPA 21:45 LOCAL TIME 18:45 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w283035
