Obama noted that the Exit Glacier near Seward has receded every year as the climate warms and that the process has been accelerating, noting that it "sends a message." "It is spectacular," Obama said at an overlook at Kenai Fjords National Park. "We want to make sure that our grandkids can see this." The glacier has been retreating for 200 years, receding 2 kilometres since 1815, and lost 57 metres last year, the National Park Service said. Obama on Tuesday was also to film a segment for a reality TV show, Running Wild With Bear Grylls, and tour the park aboard a Coast Guard ship as part of his three-day trip to the northernmost US state to promote his climate agenda.
