Answering a question on IS terrorist acts, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that IS has committed criminal and terrorist acts against the Arabs but does not commit any aggressive act against Iran, and that we do not envision existing conflicts as sectarian, pitting Sunnis versus Shiites, as all of us are equal citizens entertaining the same merits and rights and that there are nothing called Sunni or Shiite, because such belief is dangerous and any attempt to ignite sectarian sedition and acts committed by IS, throughout the past years is very dangerous and should be confronted, he said, adding that what we have seen in the Kingdom and brethren Kuwait and other countries, is the best of proof in this regard. When some groups tried to ignite sectarian sedition, we have seen the Saudi people united to confront the sedition, he stated. The first to offer condolence on martyrs were the imams of Sunni, the same thing has taken place in Kuwait. Sunni and Shiite in the Kingdom reject any attempt to ignite sectarian sedition and we, as politicians, see that any attempt to ignite sectarian sedition will fail, because we will resolutely, confront it. For his part, the Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Jodah welcomed the visiting Saudi counterpart, saying that relations between the two kingdoms are very strong and built on sound basis of understanding and positive treatment and that any talk of lukewarm relations between them, is far away from fact and reality, adding that we, in Jordan, are taking the side of Saudi Arabia, at any time, and there is and was nothing that could be termed as a tension or lukewarm sentiments marring the bilateral relations, because these relations are strong and well-established since long ago. Answering a question on the Syrian crisis, Jodah said that his country backs a political solution to the Syrian crisis and that there are international contacts with all concerned parties, in order to reach a peaceful settlement of this crisis, in a way that would guarantee the territorial integrity of Syria and its people's national unity. Jodah stressed the importance of returning to the accord made, during Geneva 1, in order to reach a stage that would end the current situation and restore to Syria its previous status, so that the process could bring about all components of the Syrian society to decide about their country's future. The press conference was attended by the Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh and a number of Jordanian Foreign Ministry's senior officials. -- SPA 01:24 LOCAL TIME 22:24 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
