Islamabad, Ramadan 7, 1436, Jun 24, 2015, SPA -- The death toll from five days of intense heatwave in southern Pakistan passed 800 on Wednesday, as hospitals struggled to cope with thousands more victims of the soaring temperatures, dpa cited officials as saying. Nearly 780 people had died in the port city of Karachi since Friday, said Jam Mehtab Dahar, the health minister in the southern province of Sindh. About 50 people died of heatstroke in other parts of the province as temperatures stayed at around 45 degree Celsius, said Ijaz Afzal, a director at the ministry. "This may not be the final tally," said Afzal. "We are still counting the dead." --SPA 12:58 LOCAL TIME 09:58 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
