Geneva, Ramadan 5, 1436, Jun 22, 2015, SPA -- Faisal bin Hasan Trad, the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, said that the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is keen to ensure a stable life for all its citizens and to help needy groups affected by poverty and destitution, citing the 10th Plan Development 2015/2019 as stating investing optimally in human resources, to raise living standards and improve the quality of life for all segments of the society. In a speech before the Human Rights Council today which launched discussion on extreme poverty and human rights, Ambassador Trad added that the state ensures the right of the citizen and his/her family in cases of emergency, disease, disability and getting old whereas it provides several programs, including social security. He pointed to a charitable fund to combat poverty which operates through mechanisms that provide interest-free loans to establish small investment projects to the category of the poor or develop existing projects to help them. During the council's discussion in the context of combating terrorism, Trad said that the government of the Kingdom agrees with the Special Rapporteur on this issue where the human rights violations carried out by the ISIS terrorist organization are one of the most dangerous types of violations. World states are obliged to take the necessary measures to protect civilians from acts of violence and terrorism," he added. He stressed that the Kingdom has since long alerted the seriousness of the scourge of terrorism on the human societies which is posing an unprecedented threat to human rights on life and the right to a peaceful, secure and stable world. --More 20:24 LOCAL TIME 17:24 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
