Berlin, Sha'ban 22, 1436, June 09, 2015, SPA -- Germany's defence minister was due to go public Tuesday with a decision to buy a new air-defence system, code-named MEADS, that uses missiles to knock enemy planes and rockets from the sky. Parliamentarians from Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition were briefed Monday night in Berlin about the decision, sources told dpa. MEADS (Medium Extended Air Defense System) was devised by US, German and Italian companies to fire US-made PAC-3 missiles from the backs of trucks. Its expected cost of billions of euros reflects the complexity of its new guidance systems. --SPA 14:53 LOCAL TIME 11:53 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
