ISLAMABAD, Sha'ban 22, 1436, June 09, 2015, SPA -- Pakistan's military says its jets have killed 12 militants in airstrikes in a northwestern tribal region near the Afghan border, AP reported. A statement said the men were "terrorists" and said they were killed Tuesday morning in the Khyber region. The statement gave no other details. The information could not be corroborated as journalists are barred from tribal areas. The latest strikes came a day after the military said it killed 19 militants in an intense gunbattle in which it also lost seven soldiers in the North Waziristan tribal region. Pakistan launched a major operation against militants in North Waziristan last summer and it is carrying out a similar operation in Khyber as well. The army says it has killed over 1,300 militants in North Waziristan and Khyber since June 2014. --SPA 13:46 LOCAL TIME 10:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
