Washington, Rajab 22, 1436, May 11, 2015, SPA -- Former US president Jimmy Carter has cut short a trip to Guyanna after feeling unwell, the Carter Center said Sunday, according to dpa. The 90-year-old Carter was in the South American nation as part of an election monitoring mission with his foundation that focuses on conflict resolution, advancing democracy, fighting disease and other issues. "President Carter is hopeful about Guyana's election and expressed his commitment and that of The Carter Center to supporting Guyana in the days ahead, stressing the need for a peaceful process before, during, and after the election," the centre said in a statement. Carter served as president from 1977-1981 and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his work on resolving international conflicts since leaving the presidency. Guyana holds presidential and parliamentary elections Monday. --SPA 03:31 LOCAL TIME 00:31 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
