WASHINGTON, Rajab 5, 1436, Apr 24, 2015, SPA -- U.S. and Japanese negotiators have made "substantial progress" toward a deal on a major Pacific free-trade pact but President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are not expected to announce a final accord during Abe's Washington visit next week, the White House said on Friday, Reuters reported. "We expect the leaders to review the progress and to have the opportunity to discuss what should be the next steps together," Caroline Atkinson, Obama's deputy national security adviser, told reporters in a preview of Abe's White House talks. "But we do not expect any announcement of a final deal. We still have some work to do," she said, citing remaining difficult issues such as autos and agriculture. -- SPA 21:55 LOCAL TIME 18:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
