WASHINGTON, Rabi'II 29, 1436, February 18, 2015, SPA -- The United States announced Tuesday that it will give an additional $125 million in emergency food aid for Syrians. Kelly Clements, deputy assistant secretary for the department’s bureau of population, refugees, and migration, said that the money will go to the World Food Program (WFP), which feeds almost six million Syrians inside and outside the country every month. “We will continue working through all possible channels to provide aid to those in need wherever they reside,” Clements told reporters. Clements said that the “dire situation facing Syrians requires an urgent collective response.” Clements said that the United States will announce additional funding when it joins donors from Europe, the Middle East, and elsewhere at a pledging conference in Kuwait next month. --SPA 11:25 LOCAL TIME 08:25 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
