Cairo, Rabi'II 4, 1436, Jan 24, 2015, SPA -- The Muslim Council of Elders (MCoE) has mourned the death of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. ''With the demise of King Abdullah, the Ummah has lost a rare, exceptional man, a towering figure in the modern Arab history, who stood up against threats that targeted his nation and promoted dialogue between followers of religions and cultures. Apart from his ready generosity in extending a helping hand to those in need and affected by crises in the Arab and Muslim Nations, the late King supported projects that fostered international peace,'' the MCoE said in a statement today. The statement added that the Islamic World will remember the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for carrying out mega projects to expand the two holy mosques, which significantly contributed in facilitating performance of Hajj and Umrah rituals. ''The MCoE expressed its deep condolences to the leadership, the government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the sad demise of King Abdullah and prayed to the Almighty Allah to bless his soul with mercy, make paradise his final abode and reward him for the service he offered to his people, Ummah and the humanity at large,'' the statement said.
