U.N. names indian diplomat as undersecretary-general for field support

United Nations, Rabi'I 16, 1436, Jan. 7, 2015, SPA -- A senior Indian diplomat and U.N. official has been named as the new U.N. undersecretary-general for field support. The office of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement that Atul Khare will succeed Amirah Haq of Bangladesh in the position that involves leading all logistical, financial, and other support for U.N. peacekeeping operations. Khare has been a former assistant secretary-general for U.N. peacekeeping operations, among other positions.
