Gaborone, Muharram 02, 1436, October 26, 2014, SPA -- President Ian Khama won a third term in Botswana's general elections, the country's chief justice confirmed Sunday, according to dpa. Justice Maruping Dibotelo said Khama would be sworn in Tuesday, after his Botswana Democratic Party secured a majority of the parliamentary seats in Friday's voting. The party has ruled the landlocked southern African country since its independence from Britain in 1966. More than 820,000 people had registered to vote. The election commission was still tabulating the final official results, but said Khama's party had already won enough seats in the 63-member parliament to remain in power. --SPA 12:04 LOCAL TIME 09:04 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
