Jeddah, Rajab 5, 1439, Mar 22, 2018, SPA -- The capital of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Kabul has been shaken once again by a violent suicide attack, which claimed at least 29 lives and caused the injury of more than 50 people in the midst of celebrations to welcome spring and the New Year (Nowruz). The brutal attack on Wednesday, 21 March 2018, came at a time when the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has made unconditional pledge to carry forward an Afghan-owned, Afghan-led process to bring lasting peace and reconciliation to the country stricken by occupation, war and conflict for nearly half a century. The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr. Yousef A. Al Othaimeen condemned the attack as a “sinful act of violent terrorism". Secretary General Othaimeen stated "Those who claim they serve the divine cause of Islam by bringing death and devastation to their land are grossly mistaken and bound to fail.” The Secretary General underlined that all 57 members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have unanimously condemned violence and terrorism and expressed determination to combat terrorism in every way. --SPA 19:30 LOCAL TIME 16:30 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w648610
