Jeddah, March 29, 2019, SPA -- A high-level delegation from the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated today in the national funerary ceremony, organized by the Government of New Zealand, to commemorate the victims of the terrorist attack on the mosques in Christchurch. On behalf of Secretary-General of the OIC Dr. Yousuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, the OIC delegation expressed its condolences to the Government of New Zealand and the families of the victims in these difficult days. The delegation also met New Zealand officials and conveyed the Secretary-General's appreciation to the New Zealand Prime Minister for the efforts made by her government since the terrorist attack took place, alongside the families of the victims and their solidarity with the Muslim community in their country. The Secretary-General stressed that terrorism had no religion, race or nationality, warning at the same time that the horrific terrorist incident had sent a powerful message to the world that the discourse of hatred, intolerance, and Islamophobia had become a clear threat to the security of stable societies. --SPA 15:40 LOCAL TIME 12:40 GMT 0007 www.spa.gov.sa/w1075015
