European Union Adds Two Iranian Officials and Internal Security Directorate to Its Terrorist List

Brussels, Jan 9, 2019, SPA -- The European Union (EU) has announced it added two Iranian officials and the Directorate for Internal Security of the Iranian Ministry for Intelligence and Security to the EU terrorist list as part of its response to recent Iranian attacks, yet foiled, on the European soil. The Council of European Union said in a statement issued in Brussels today that it has adopted these lists as part of its response to recent failed attacks on the city of Villepinte, northeast of Paris, noting that these sanctions are effective as of today. It also said that the two Iranians were General Director of Intelligence and Deputy Interior Minister Saeed Al-Hashemi Muqaddam and the Iranian diplomat, the main suspect in the attempted attack in Villepinte, Assadullah Asadi, and the Iranian Directorate for Internal Security which is affiliated to the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence. The statement explained that the persons (their numbers are 21), groups and entities (their numbers are 21) on the list published today are subject to the freezing of their funds and other financial assets.
