Jeddah, Rabi'I 16, 1440, November 24, 2018, SPA -- Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Conference Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen called on the OIC Member States to confront violence against women by continuing to take the necessary measures to prevent such practices which are incompatible with the principles of Islam. The International Day for the Elimination of All Forms of Violence against Women was an opportunity to assess achievements and commitments to stop violence against women in all its forms and to provide them with the necessary support to combat such practices. The Secretary-General pointed out that the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women this year comes at a time when OIC is preparing to hold the 7th session of the Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in Development in the Member States on November 30- December 1 ,2018 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, "Empowering Women in Member States: Challenges and Prospects which will provide an opportunity for Member States, OIC institutions and partner institutions to discuss various issues and challenges related to the empowerment of women in Member States. --SPA 15:02 LOCAL TIME 12:02 GMT 0006 www.spa.gov.sa/w793115
